After we flew from Timika to Awer we boarded our canoe and motored upriver for 2 1/2 days. 366 winding km, one way
The three of us, two boat men and three porters, plus all our food and water, a spare engine and all the gasoline we would need for the round trip.
We camped at villages along the way.
